Egy kis faluban kútfúrás közben gyógyvíz tör fel. A tanács és a termelőszövetkezet nem tud vele mit kezdeni, de a szélhámos Szombathy Félix nyomban rácsap a remek üzleti lehetőségre. Modern "hőforrásvizsgáló" álcéget alapít egy társával, és ígéretet tesz a falu felvirágoztatására. Közben egy évre leültetik egy régi ügye miatt, de szabadulása után olyan lendülettel tárgyal, hogy mindenki hisz neki. A tanácselnököt gyógyfürdő, a szövetkezetet melegház és birkacsárda építésének tervével nyeri meg. Megindulnak a nagyarányú építkezések, miközben Szombathy magántőkéje is szépen gyarapszik, s a szebbik nem is egyre kevésbé tud ellenállni a sikeres üzletembernek. A birkacsárda avatásán azonban egy nyomozó is megjelenik. FE

Plot Summary / (Tartalom – angol nyelven):

While a well is being dug in a small village, healing water starts gushing out suddenly. The local council and the co-operative do not know what to do with it, but the windbag Szombathy Félix snaps up the marvellous business opportunity. Together with his business associate they found a fake company for carrying out "thermal spring research", and he promises to make the village a prosperous place. In the meantime he is put behind bars for a year for a previous criminal act, but after his release he so enthusiastically and irresistibly uses his powers of persuasion that everybody believes him. He wins the chairman of the local council with the promise of building a thermal bath, while the co-operative will get the promise of a heated green-house and a new inn with mutton specialities. They begin the construction work, and Szombathy's private gains are increasing just as well. By now, not many local women can resist the successful businessman, either. However, on the day of the warming party of the inn, a detective also turns up.
